‘The Voice’ season 6 has yet to premiere, but is there already trouble at the judges’ table? Shakira and Usher heat up on tonight’s big episode!
So much for the battle rounds! The battles are already brewing in tonight’s blind auditions — and not on the stage! Shakira is more fiery than ever, and Usher takes notice in the two-hour premiere. Is Shakira the judge to beat this season?
Don’t Mess With Shakira!
“You don’t want to see that woman mad,” Usher admitted, alongside host Carson Daly and executive producer Mark Burnett, at this afternoon’s The Voice press conference in New York City. “I actually am very cautious when analyzing her. She’s very protective, as any woman would be, but man, she is just passionate about what she’s doing and you don’t want to cross the line. It’s better just to stay out of it.”
According to Carson, Usher isn’t the only macho man to take the backseat to the new Latina mom, who sports a super sexy sequin mini dress in the season opener. Adam Levine and Blake Shelton‘s bromance might be overshadowed by the panel’s fearless female. “My theory is that Adam is [scared of her],” the host said. “I think he genuinely is.”
Will Usher Stand Up to Shakira in the Blind Auditions?
Even though he admitted that Shakira is a force to be reckoned with, Usher isn’t ready to back down this early in the competition. “You do what you have to in blind auditions,” said Usher.
And he certainly does. When standout contestant Bria Kelly, 17, takes center stage with an impressive rendition of James Taylor‘s “Steamroller Blues,” Shakira goes wild, complimenting the soulful teenage songstress that she reminds her of a young version of herself. But Usher takes the competition to a whole new level when he shells out his Grammy award. That’s right — the R&B singer takes his shiny, gold trophy right up to the singer on stage, in the best moment of bribery we’ve ever seen in the blind auditions.
You’ll have to tune in tonight to see who Bria chooses, but we have a feeling Shakira will be spicing up the judges table all season long. As for Usher, he’s ready for some serious head-to-head competition: “If there was anything that I held back the first time, this time, I’m home,” Usher said. “I go hard in the paint!”
HollywoodLifers, are you on team Shakira? If not, which judge are you rooting for?
