Danica Patrick’s Crash At Daytona 500
We’re so glad to hear everyone is alright! Danica, 31, crashed head-on into the outside wall on Feb. 23 during the big race, after Kevin Harvick approached drivers Brian Scott and Aric Almirola. Aric then hit Danica, driving her hard into the wall and causing a 13-car serious crash.
Drivers Parker Kligerman, Paul Menard, Austin Dillon, David Gilliland, Kasey Kahne, Marcos Ambrose, Justin Allgaier, Josh Wise, Michael Waltrip were all part of the accident that scared us all!
Luckily, no drivers were seriously injured, but they were very unhappy.
“It’s a bummer, but you know that is the excitement of speedway racing that anything can happen, and it was unfortunate that I was on the short end of the accident,” Danica said after the race.
Crash Angers Other Drivers: ‘People Are Crazy’
Michael Waltrip and Aric were both upset that they were affected.
“The cars are grippy and people are crazy. There are a lot of lanes out there and people are trying to use everyone one of them,” Michael added, admitting he didn’t know who even hit him. “They crashed ahead of us and I saw it and let off and I got clobbered and it was like the guy never knew there was a wreck.”
“Everybody was on older tires right there, and I think somebody got loose up under me and the next thing I knew I was pounding the fence,” Aric added.
This wasn’t even the only big crash of the night — Austin Dillon hit the side of Kyle Larson during Lap 166, which affected four more drivers! Again, we’re just happy everyone is ok!
