Oh no! One of the biggest icons in the wrestling world announced on Feb. 22 that he will need to undergo emergency surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in his knee.
Jake “The Snake” Roberts, one of the most beloved figures in professional wrestling, shockingly revealed that he is facing a scary brush with cancer on Feb. 22. The former wrestler announced that he will be undergoing emergency surgery to remove a dangerous tumor that is growing behind his knee.
Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts Reveals: I Have Cancer
The tumor is apparently beginning to grow into his muscle, so Jake will be going under the knife to remove it, he told TMZ. He noticed the growth, which was about the size of a half dollar, about a month ago and on Feb. 21 his doctors told him that tests came back positive for cancer.
Jake will be undergoing surgery to remove the tumor on Feb. 24, and if all goes well, the cancer threat should be taken care of. In fact, Jake the Snake expects to be back in the ring by Mar. 14, when he returns to Jersey Championship Wrestling.
“If the devil can’t defeat me, cancer doesn’t stand a chance in hell!” Jake said. “Pray for the sick children who face this horrible disease ’cause The Snake will be just fine.” What a strong attitude.
After Jake evades this cancer threat and returns to pro wrestling, he’ll also have the WWE Hall of Fame to look forward to. Jake will be inducted on Apr. 5 in New Orleans, and he reportedly says that nothing is going to stop him from being at the ceremony.
Attaboy, Jake! Stay strong!
