If LeBron really wants to be the next Michael Jordan, there’s still one thing he needs to do — star in a ‘Space Jam’ movie. And shockingly he may get that chance, as a new report claims that production on the sequel is moving forward.
Does LeBron James believe he can fly? A new report claims that a sequel for the 1996 movie Space Jam is in the works with LeBron in mind to star.
‘Space Jam 2′ Starring LeBron James?
Sports broadcasting phenom Dick Ebersol‘s sons Charlie and Willie plan to work together to produce the movie and write the screenplay with Warner Bros. exec Jon Berg, according to Deadline. But the biggest news is that the Ebersol brothers have their eyes on LeBron to be the star of the unexpected sequel.
But the question remains — will LBJ actually put on the Looney Tunes uniform?
As of now, the Miami Heat star appears to be focusing on basketball, and sources close to him refute the Deadline report, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.
LeBron James: Why He Should Do ‘Space Jam 2′
Hopefully LeBron’s just being coy though, because a Space Jam sequel would be absolutely huge. When Michael Jordan starred in the original in 1996, the movie grossed $230 million and featured other high-flying basketball legends like Larry Bird and Charles Barkley. And in the years since the movie’s release, it’s become a cult classic adored by most sports’ fans.
So how could LeBron say no? In fact, he’s actually been caught professing his love for Space Jam before:
