I’m totally pulling a ‘Leave Britney Alone’ move here, and saying — to all the haters out there who are criticizing her for lip syncing, it’s time to move on.
During a performance of “Alien” on Feb. 18, Britney Spears fans saw first hand that she wasn’t singing when the track played and the mic wasn’t even up to her mouth. However, who cares? You’re paying to see her entertain, and that. she. does. Let’s be honest, you weren’t paying to see her sing a ballad live.
Britney Spears Lip Syncing? So What!
Brit performs for about an hour and a half — not the longest show, but definitely not a short one, either. Should she be singing on stage? Maybe. But does she? No, never. I can say first hand I’ve gone to multiple Britney shows knowing that I was there to see her put on a show, dance and be entertaining. And I left satisfied time and time again.

Throughout Britney’s Piece of Me show, she has numerous costume and set changes and extremely intense dance moves involving rings, fire, and — well, basically a Circus. Her costumes include craziness like a tiny leotard, to a bra top showing her abs, to a pair of huge wings that she wears floating down from the ceiling.
Let’s be honest. The dancing she does — and if you watched the documentary, you know that she and her crew spent multiple hours rehearsing — is intense. She rolls around on the floor, she jumps off a huge tree, and she does really extreme moves. Singing in key while doing that would be nearly impossible.
Brit Is Entertaining. Period.
This is Vegas, people. You come to see a show — an entertaining, crazy, bright, fun show. And that is what Britney is doing with Piece of Me. We get a huge piece of her by seeing all the hard work she’s put in.
So, calm it down haters and remember — “Alien” wasn’t even on her original setlist since it was already so long. Feb. 12 was the first time she performed it. Give the girl a break. She’s not three hours late to her set, and she doesn’t run off stage early. She shows the fans the Britney they come to see.
Do you agree with me, HollywoodLifers? Do you think it’s ok that Britney lip syncs? Let me know!
