’22 Jump Street’ Trailer Jokes About Chris Brown Abusing Rihanna

Jonah Hill’s character compares Channing Tatum’s character to Chris Brown because he’s ‘a good dancer,’ but also ‘meaner’ than he should be.

Any decent human being with a pulse knows that domestic abuse is a serious matter, devoid of humor — but apparently the writers of 22 Jump Street didn’t get that memo. The latest trailer for the 21 Jump Street sequel, which opens in theaters June 13, features an utterly un-clever dig at one of Hollywood’s most famous cases of dating violence between Chris Brown and Rihanna.

Chris Brown & Rihanna Joke In ’22 Jump Street’ Trailer

“We’re like a power couple,” Channing Tatum‘s character says, to which Jonah Hill‘s character replies, “We’re like Rihanna and Chris Brown. You’re a good dancer and sometimes you’re meaner than I’d like you to be.”

22 Jump Street finds slacker cops Jenko and Schmidt (Channing and Jonah) reuniting after the events of the first movie. But rather than going back to high school — again — the sequel finds them going undercover at college.

HollywoodLifers, check out the new 22 Jump Street trailer below, then drop a comment: Do you think the Chris/Rihanna joke was too much?

This is just wrong. The violence of Chris towards Rih was a mistake that so many men have made and nobody should use that as a joke.

Violence towards anyone is a choice not a mistake. You don’t accidently put your hands on someone in a violet manner. Domestic violence is never a mistake. It’s a choice and there is no excuse for it.

Chris just keep your head up. Some people are always going to be negative because they are unhappy in their lives,or enjoy kicking someone when they are down,You have a lot of people who are proud of you for getting the help you need. It is a lot of celebrities that have done the same things or worse, but no one bring up their mistakes. Someone is trying very hard to make sure Chris does not get back on top. We are all human and we all make mistakes. Chris stay positive and ignore the negativity. God bless.

Your doctor should have also told you that some brains are smaller than others and hence talk crap and stupidity. Next time before stereotyping and generalizing, think twice before you compare a human to an animal you moron. Get educated!!!

@CAM: I’m black and all I have to say is yes the media does make fun of Charlie Sheen but do you know what the difference is between Charlie and Chris is? Charlie doesn’t let all the negative media get under his skin. He sits back and laughs at it. He doesn’t throw a fit on national tv and throw a chair through a window or break his own mother’s car window just because he’s mad. Charlie knows how to handle the negative press. Chris needs to learn how to do that. He’s in Hollywood and in the public eye. He needs to get some tough skin, grow up and stop acting like a child.

Let the past be the past i and the rest of team breezy believe that Chris has learnt from his mistakes and is trying to be a better man and in essence a decent human being, Rihanna has forgiven him which is the main thing and there’s still negative and spiteful people trying to drag him down as they are envious of his comeback and ongoing success love you Chris, stay strong and ignore the haters as haters are motivators for someone to better themselves.

It’s all about maintaining relevance and even for them, it’s a cheap shot & a much more economical pr shot, & i could be referring to either camp here (22JumpSt or CB pr machine)

Its funny how the media expect Chris brown to move on and be a better man while they drag his 6 years ago mistake, and they themselves can’t move on from it.

I don’t think they were making fun of him. I think they were saying rihanna and chris were an item and that by the way, Chris has the fame of being quick-tempered and angry.

I saw the trailer and I agree with you. The tone was not mocking Chris or abuse. The media saw another opportunity to drag this poor man by twisting the intentions of showing them as a power couple and that Chris will re-act if you step to him.
