‘The Voice’ has never left us this speechless! Watch Cee Lo make the big announcement on Ellen DeGeneres’ show, then weigh in: Will you miss him as a coach?
The Voice is about to get a lot quieter. Just days before the NBC singing competition’s season premiere, Cee Lo Green revealed that he won’t be returning for the following season this fall. Usher is once again filling in for Cee Lo during Season 6, which premieres Feb. 24, but when Season 7 rolls back around, it’ll have to do so without Mr. Green.
Cee Lo Green Quitting ‘The Voice': Why He’s Leaving Forever
“I’m going to continue my relationship with NBC,” Cee Lo told Ellen DeGeneres on Feb. 18 during an interview scheduled to air Feb. 19. “I have a television show development deal with them as well and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year. But yeah, I’m going to miss The Voice too. So I’m not coming back, guys.”
Seeming somewhat surprised by the revelation, Ellen pressed on, asking, “You’re not coming back at all?”
“I don’t want to wear out my welcome there,” Cee Lo told her. “I have so many other things that I want to do. I haven’t released an album in four years. I’m almost done with my album.”
Talk about a twist! We don’t blame Cee Lo for wanting to focus on his own music career, but we never expected him to just quit like this.
HollywoodLifers, are you as stunned by Cee Lo’s announcement as we are? Will you still watch the show, even without him, in Season 7? Drop a comment with your thoughts on the major Voice shakeup below.
