Marwan warmed hearts worldwide when a a photo of him wandering the Jordan desert all alone went viral. The 4-year-old boy was separated from his family after fleeing Syria to seek refuge in Jordan. Thankfully, Marwan was reunited with his family shortly after United Nations staff members found him by himself.
4-Year-Old Syrian Refugee Found Alone In Desert
Andrew Harper from The UN Refugee Agency shared a touching photo on Twitter of a little boy carrying a plastic bag half his size as he wandered through the Jordan desert alone. The photo quickly went viral, and Andrew shared that the little boy had been found wandering the desert after being separated from his family who were seeking refuge from the war in Syria.

“Here 4 year old Marwan, who was temporarily separated from his family, is assisted by UNHCR staff to cross #Jordan,” Andrew captioned the first photo of Marwan on his personal Twitter. “Just to let you know that Marwan was safely reunited w his mother soon after being carried across the #Jordan border.”

United Nations Reunites Marwan With Family
While multiple outlets reported misinformation about Marwan along with the photo, Andrew was quick to share the details of how Marwan was separated from his family and then quickly reunited. Andrew also shared more photos of Marwan, including one of him at the very back of a group of refugees that he was following across the desert to safety.
