Longtime fans of ‘The Tonight Show’ were a bit worried that Jimmy might not live up to the high expectations set by previous hosts Jay Leno and Johnny Carson. But Jimmy proved all the haters wrong Feb. 18 with funny sketches, great interviews and a slew of celeb guests!
Jimmy Fallon had me laughing all night during his premiere of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He started off the show by saying: “I’ll be your host — for now,” poking fun at the fact that there have been host changes over the past few years but it’s safe to say, Jimmy will be around for quite some time.
‘The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon’ Premiere — Best Episode Ever
First off, it’s so cool that Jimmy brought the show back to NYC! It was awesome and you could feel the energy from the city seeping into the studio, it was a great decision.
But as soon as Jimmy took the stage, he was not only hilarious but he made sure to let viewers know that he was incredibly appreciative for the gig.
“I remember asking my parents to stay up late to watch Johnny Carson,” Jimmy said. “I can just think there’s some kid asking their parents to stay up to watch me.”
He was so incredibly genuine and it scored major points with me!
Huge Celebs Stop By The Show & Celebrate Jimmy’s Premiere
But the most amazing part of the night had to be the amazing celebs that stopped by to give their well wishes to Jimmy. It was so smart to have it be about which celebs didn’t think he could make it. When Robert DeNiro was the first star to walk out onto the stage, I really didn’t think he could be topped but I was wrong. Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga, Sara Jessica Parker and Joan Rivers are just a few of the A-list names that walked out from behind the curtain.
The night had only just begun! Having Will Smith get up there and do a sketch about the evolution of dance was so funny. I was dying when they did “The Carlton” dance from The Fresh Prince — such a smart move!
Just when I thought all of the surprises were over, U2 came out and of course, won me over again! Then they performed on the roof — so cool!
This was the best episode of The Tonight Show I’ve ever seen and I can’t wait for what else is to come!
