This is the sort of news you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy. On Feb. 10, rumors surfaced that Shayne Lamas of ‘Bachelor’ fame was in a coma after losing her baby due to freak pregnancy complications. Find out the latest on Shayne’s health below.
Shayne Lamas: ‘Bachelor’ Winner In A Coma After Losing Baby
Shayne and her husband Nik Richie, the much-maligned founder of the slut-shaming “gossip” site TheDirty.com, were four months into Shayne’s pregnancy with their second child when she collapsed on Feb. 9, and was immediately taken to the hospital.
TMZ reports that around 7:35 p.m. PST, paramedics were called after Shayne’s collapse. When she arrived at the hospital, doctors determined she was bleeding internally around her uterus, and given the dire nature of her circumstances, they then brought in specialists to figure out what was causing the bleeding.
Unfortunately, Shayne lost her baby during the surgery, and TMZ reported that she is currently comatose and not breathing on her own.
However, Shayne’s father Lorenzo Lamas discredited TMZ’s report, stating that while Shayne did indeed have a miscarriage, she was never in a coma.
“We are so grateful that my daughter, Shayne Lamas-Richie, is conscious and stable,” Lorenzo said in a statement. “She is not in a coma, however she did miscarry the child she was carrying. We are so very grateful to the hospital personnel and the doctors who saved her life last night. Shayne is aware of her condition and that her family and her husband are here with her and love her so much. She will be remaining in the hospital until her doctors determine that she can be released.”
Shayne Lamas Miscarriage: Nik Richie Responds
Nik has undoubtedly done some horrible things, but no one — no one — deserves to go through what he’s experiencing right now. The controversial web guru took to his own site on Feb. 10 to post a personal statement, letting his fans know that he would not be blogging in the near future:
“I’m going to take some personal days off from the blogging world. Unfortunate things happen to good people. I’m not the best person in the world, but I love my wife and my family. Shayne is my good person. She is my support and my smile. I found you and I never want to let you go. We will overcome. Us 3.- nik”
HollywoodLife.com sends thoughts and prayers to Shayne, Nik, and the rest of their families during this difficult time.
