Borrowing from the boys! The designer re-imagined menswear staples by adding her signature edgy touches to each and every look — and we’re sure the star-studded front row can’t wait to rock it.
Rebecca Minkoff continues to evolve as a designer, and it totally showed when she sent her Fall 2014 collection down the runway during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center on Feb. 7 in NYC. Gone were the short hemlines from spring, instead, we saw longer silhouettes, tailored trousers and a slew of wearable outerwear options — and the front row was just as exciting as the runway, as Carrie Underwood, Victoria Justice, Bella Thorne, AnnaSophia Robb, and Anna Kendrick were among the stars who took in the collection.
Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2014 Collection:
From suit patterns to pinstripes, the menswear element was visible throughout the collection — and I loved the way it was juxtaposed with some of Rebecca’s signature flair — think metallic lame fabric, statement accessories, and tees mixed in with wool coats and corduroy pants. While some items were refined, the unexpected twist gave it an edgy, effortless vibe.
Personally, the patterns and silhouettes also had a school girl chic vibe — if Blair Waldorf had an edgier, more downtown cool younger sister with effortless style than Rebecca Minkoff’s Fall 2014 collection would be her uniform.
Tresemme stylist Jeanie Syfu crafted a complimentary ‘do that consisted of low, loose ponytails with wisps of hair framing the face. The nails also played to the menswear vibe as Michelle Saunders for essie offered up a bold twist on a traditional French manicure.
Not only was the whole look cohesive, but we definitely think the trendy gals in the front row will totally rock the looks. Not only would Bella look bold in the separates, but we would love to see how Victoria reinterperts the looks. A plaid skirt really stood out as a great choice for the young star — and we can’t wait to see how rocks Rebecca’s latest collection first on the red carpet!
