Mackenzie and husband Josh McKee welcomed a baby girl named Jaxie Taylor on Feb. 7! Congratulations to the happy couple!
‘Teen Mom 3’ star Mackenzie McKee Gives Birth Prematurely
Mackenzie gave her fans 24-hours notice, announcing suddenly on social media that she was getting ready to give birth. HollywoodLife.com later revealed EXCLUSIVELY that Mackenzie, who suffers from Type 1 Diabetes, was forced to have her c-section early after her blood sugar levels continued to drop.
No worries for Mackenzie or Jaxie Taylor, though. While 37 weeks is considered slightly premature, it’s very common for babies to be delivered early, according to the CDC.
“I am so thankful for a healthy baby girl,” Mackenzie told InTouch after giving birth.
Mackenzie McKee Gave Birth Prematurely Due To Her Battle With Type 1 Diabetes
As mentioned, Mackenzie suffers from Type 1 Diabetes, which made her pregnancy risky. She constantly has to keep track of her diet and her blood sugar, and she had a bit of a scare the week before she gave birth. The reality star was rushed to the hospital when her blood sugar hit a dangerous low, but thankfully she recovered quickly and didn’t have to go into labor 4 weeks early.
This isn’t the first time Mackenzie has faced a difficult pregnancy — or a c-section — due to her diabetes. Mackenzie also had a rough time while pregnant with her son, Gannon, 2. Her journey was documented on 16 & Pregnant.
