The world was saddened Feb. 2 when news broke that Philip Seymour Hoffman had died at the age of 46. Actors Cate Blanchett and Justin Theroux recently paid their respects by visiting his partner, Mimi O’Donnell.
Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead on Feb. 2 of an apparent drug overdose. This sudden tragedy shocked the world, including many celebrities and close friends of Philip. We all knew Philip has had issues with drugs before, but this hit hard and will leave everyone wondering how things would have gone if he had gotten help.
Celebrities Pay Respects To Philip Seymour Hoffman
Philip had many friends in the celebrity world, including Jennifer Aniston’s husband, Justin Theroux. Justin, a longtime friend of Philip’s, was seen arriving at a West Village apartment in New York City, visiting Philip’s partner, Mimi O’Donnell, 46, and her three children, Cooper, 10, Tallulah, 7 and Willa, 5.
Justin was broken up about Philip’s loss and couldn’t believe that it happened, according to Us Weekly. He’s doing anything he can to keep Mimi and her children comforted.
Cate Blanchett was also spotted at Mimi’s apartment. The Monument’s Men star was in tears, and had gifts for Philip’s children. Cate met Philip in 1999 when the two were working on The Talented Mr. Ripley.
Philip Seymour Hoffman: This Loss Was A Tough One To Swallow
Along with Philip were 65 bags of heroin, including 5 empty bags, marked with “Ace of Spades” and “Ace of Hearts.” These two usually contain heroin and a narcotic pain killer named fetanyl, a lethal combination.
Philip was loved by many and is one of the most celebrated actors of our time. From Capote to The Hunger Games to Moneyball, the man could do it all. He will be missed, but will also live on through the many genius roles he played throughout his career.
