Frances talks to HollywoodLife.com about stepping into the (painful) shoes of a potential murderess!
Have you ever asked yourself, ‘What if The Devil Wears Prada ended with the plucky young assistant being brutally murdered?’ That’s kind of where the Feb. 3 episode of Castle picks up, with Frances Fisher stepping into the role of fashion magazine editor — and suspected killer — Matilda King. It’s a role she tells HollywoodLife.com was “lovely” to play, even if it was murder on her feet.
“My feet were aching,” Frances admits with a laugh. “All of the clothes I was wearing were brand new, so that was wonderful. But yes, I had a lot of standing to do.”
Despite her throbbing feet — hey, pain is beauty, right? — Frances says she loved every minute of her guest spot.
“I like to play different characters,” she says. “I don’t like the play the same thing twice, and this definitely was a first for me. … I did as much research as I could, and then I used my own imagination to fill in the blanks. But if the script is well-written, which it was, then you have all the clues embedded.”
“My scenes were mostly with the two of them,” Frances explains. “What was really nice was to discover that Nathan is actually a lot like Castle! He’s got a great sense of humor. And Stana is just lovely; we had some great conversations while we waited between takes. It was great just hanging out on set.”
But here’s the big question: Did Matilda really kill her assistant?
“She’s certainly a suspect,” Frances teases. “She runs her company with an iron fist.”
(“Iron fist,” eh? Sounds like that could double as a murder weapon!)
HollywoodLifers, don’t miss Frances’ episode of Castle, airing Feb. 3 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
