As one of the most hotly-anticipated films of Summer 2014, fans of the franchise couldn’t wait to see the trailer for ‘Transformers: Age Of Extinction’ — and it did not disappoint! Click through to watch!

While many Super Bowl commercials were released ahead of game day, Paramount Pictures and director Michael Bay decided to build anticipation by holding out from releasing any footage whatsoever — and their strategy worked! Fans of the franchise have been dying to see the trailer for Transformers: Age Of Extinction and it’s finally here! Be sure to watch and tell us if it lived up to your expectations!

The 30-second trailer was short but sweet — “prepare for extinction,” the titles told us between jam-packed action sequences typical of Michael Bay and the franchise itself.

This is Mark Wahlberg‘s first Transformers flick, taking over the lead spot from Shia LaBeouf, who starred in the previous three Transformers movies.

Despite Shia’s recent reputation for being difficult, Michael Bay told Inquirer.net that the decision to cast Mark as the lead was purely about the story, that “[he] was going to stop doing Transformers after doing three—because it’s hard to make a fourth movie with the same characters.” Pretty understandable!

Mark Wahlberg The Perfect Choice For The New ‘Transformers’ Movie

The third instalment of the series, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, despite earning over $300 million, was released to fairly lukewarm reception from critics and fans alike. Maybe it’s because Megan Fox was cut from the series, or maybe it’s because it really was time for a shake-up!

Mark Wahlberg, who will be playing a father to a 17-year-old daughter, is the perfect choice to head up a reboot of the Transformers series. While the 42-year-old actor is not necessarily known for his action films, his tough-guy roles in films such as The Departed, The Fighter, and Lone Survivor show that he certainly has the chops to pull off this new and exciting challenge.

What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Are you excited to see Transformers: Age Of Extinction when it opens on Jun. 27, 2014? Do you wish the trailer was longer? Do you think that Shia should still be a part of the franchise? Be sure to vote and tell us your thoughts below!

I will not be watching this one. Without Shia it’s not a true Transformers movie. This makes me sad i loved Transformers.

Cutting Megan hurt the 3rd movie but to cut Shia, good luck on keeping your fan base. Sam had a friendship with the auto bots which I think will be hard to replace.

I like Mark Wahlburg but if you are telling a story, which you are doing by coming out with # 4, then you should have kept Shia. He and Optimus have a connection.
