When you think of The Grammys, what are the things that come to your mind since you have been around a few yourself. What memory do you cherish most?
NE-YO – Hectic parties, people standing outside being mad at me for not getting in! You know its a celebration of music and its a high school reunion so to speak. You get to see artists a peers you haven’t seen in awhile for whatever reason! To gather in one place, its good times!
You seem to be the go to person to collaborate with, is there anyone you’d like to collaborate with that may surprise your fans?
NE-YO – I think people are starting to understand that if you start putting me in a box it defeats the whole purpose of the person that I am. I mean I am music. I walk and talk and live and breath it! I can do a country western song, I can then turn around and do a pop record or and R&B record. That is the ground that I am trying to lay so with that being said I would hope that nobody would be shocked!
What keeps you so level headed in this world since others in the limelight like the Biebers of the world seem to have a rough time with it?
NE-YO – A big part of it is the fear of God. I am not really a big religious person but I am a really spiritual person! I do believe in a higher power. I believe in the concept that when you think you are the best, that is when things rear their ugly head at you so I maintain being humble at all times. I realized that I am very blessed. I get to do what I love as my profession. People get up every morning hating and not enjoying what they do for work and that is not my life thankfully! I am blessed and thankful and humble. Lord willing let the blessings to keep rolling!
What do you have to prove to yourself in your career?
NE-YO – I have accomplished stuff that I am very happy with but I would put it to you this way in this analogy… I have won three Grammys that I am very proud of but Stevie Wonder has Grammys in double digits! I would like to say that I still have some work to do!
So HollywoodLifers, Isn’t Ne-Yo the best? Tell us your favorite song below! And get your hands on some Malibu Red!
