It was President Obama’s night to shine on Jan. 28, but all eyes were also on the FLOTUS, who looked chic and sophisticated in a tasteful forest green dress by designer Azzedine Alaia.
President Obama had his work cut out for him during the State of the Union Address on Jan. 28, where he was set to speak about health care issues, immigration, and possible even Iran, but he must have felt confident with his First Lady Michelle Obama supporting him in the audience. FLOTUS absolutely stunned in a gorgeous green ensemble that included a cropped blazer and a full, A-line skirt.
Michelle Obama’s State Of The Union Dress: She Stuns In Alaia Ensemble
Michelle dressed in winter colors for the speech, and she was greeted with a round of applause when she entered the room. And it’s no wonder why — she chose the perfect dress for the occasion!
The First Lady wowed in a conservative yet stylish Alaia ensemble that was cinched at the waist with an oversized belt.
This isn’t the first time Michelle has worn an Alaia dress — she donned a sienna-hued frock by the designer for a 2011 visit to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington D.C., and wore a floor-length powder blue gown to the Nobel Peace prize banquet in Oslo in 2009.
If the designer’s name still isn’t ringing any bells, please refer to Clueless, in which Alicia Silverstone‘s character explains, “It’s like a totally important designer.”
Michelle Obama’s 2013 SOTU Dress
Michelle’s 2014 SOTU dress is a bit of a departure from the gown she wore at last year’s State of the Union. That night, Michelle rocked a red wine-colored A-line dress by Jason Wu with a contrasting black collar. The tight-fitting, sleeveless dress showed off Michelle’s amazing figure, and was a strong, if a bit conservative, statement.
But she may have outdone herself this year! Regardless of how the address went, you know Barack had a successful night, because that’s what he got to go home to.
