Lot of haters on here also I see…probably a lot of the same people who are down on here in any other blog or clip.
I think that these are people who simply are out to get her..or are people who can’t appreciate that you don’t haveto fly through the air on a trapeze to be a serious singer songwriter..

I’m just glad we have her and proud to support her.

Shes 17, the style shes sporting now could change by tomorrow. Neither Goth or Punk, her look seperated her away from the usual glitz & glam preferred the majority of female singers….Its somewhat refreshing to see someone not reliant on a fashion statement to carry a performance.

Best ‘performance’ of the night, along with Daft Punk, Pharrell, Nile Rogers, and Stevie Wonder. They were awesome, energetic, positive, joyous, and stole the show. Lorde is an optimistic voice to me, her music shows there is some hope for a deviation from the consumeristic dystopia shown in most music videos, that appear to be nothing more than infomercials loaded with product and gratuitous nudity, i applaud Lorde’s style and personally think you don’t need to present yourself as a smiling pole-dancing wannabe to be worthy of the title of entertainer. Honestly. They’re in the music business aren’t they?

Have any of you ever watched any of Lordes other performances? The movement is typical of her performances. I think its awesome. A stunning performance, a big contrast to the rest of the flash and pomp and the trying to out do one another that we usually get. And by the way, have you watched some performers of actual bands dance? Some of them that don’t have the crap choreographed out of their music are terrible dancers on stage.

Amazing. Proud to be a New Zealander when one of the people.from our small country make.it.big overseas. You are a beautiful girl with.a.big future, and it is good to.see.a nice fombination of black.and.white in support of your home land. Its good.to.see.that.someone.can make it to.the.top.fully.clothed and.without a stage production of dancers and.light show, just an amazing voice is.all thats needed. You stole the show

Wow it is true… Americans just want a show not any actual talent. Dont worry New Zealand will keep lorde… an orignal act not a manufactured barbie doll.
As for the comments about the performance… lets put you in front of god knows how many viewers and see how you act. Yes the song was re done deal with it… we saw a different version of blurred lines. And believe it or not… NO LIP SYNCING because in NZ we live by the saying “Do it right or don’t do it at all”

Enjoy original NZ taking over your airwaves because this is just the beginning

No she wasn’t lip syncing. She sings every layer of harmony in the recording and obviously can’t do that live on stage since there aren’t five of her.

She sang the main melody to a backing track of her other harmonies. Listen and watch closer and you will see that occasionally she holds a note longer than the backing track. Or don’t and continue to be ignorant.

It’s actually a testament to how good she is that she can sing live and you yourself weren’t able to differentiate from the recorded version.

Stunning. No smoke and mirrors and basically any boring overt sexuality needed here. Other ‘pop’ stars could take a leaf out of her book.

Jesus, guys! Give the girl a break, she’s a very talented artist and music’s not about looks. So she has a twitch and she didn’t put on an entire palette of covergirl tonight… Her music is great and at the very least, at 17, she’s much better off than any of you without having to conform to your standards. Not to mention, the professionals and actual critics say she’s absolutely marvelous. Get some depth, people.

Exactly..but many people don’t have depth and can’t appreciate talent and art. They are the surface dwellers of life and then the trolls are bottom feeders. There are plenty of them also..

Oh my people…open your minds… It’s not about how old she looks, or what she’s wearing, or even about how she moves; we are seeing a young lady who writes thought provoking lyrics, mixes her own music, and does her own arrangements! She’s brilliant! And, I loved how she kept it simple! Well done Lorde!

I’m an American female (38). I’ve done plenty of overseas traveling. I don’t care what she wears or how she dances. She looked older than I am, and she’s 17 – that’s just odd. Regardless of how she looked, her actual performance was terrible. Her twitching was distracting, her singing was off, and the “re-mix” she presented wasn’t “mixed” well at all. She may be a very talented singer, but she didn’t show that tonight.

Alot of the best acual musicians (and no that doesn’t include most top 40 artists) over the last 60 or so years have been unique, often non conforming and wierd (Dylan, Hendrix, Bowie etc etc).

Explain how it wasn’t mixed well. Do you work in recording?

That’s just nasty and un-called for… If you haven’t got anything positive to say about someone’s success then it’s probably best to keep it to yourself. I’m proud we have this kind of authentic and original talent coming out of our country of Aotearoa!

As an American I think she’s Absolutely Refreshing!! Lorde doesn’t need the nude grinding to draw attention – her music and talent does that for her. I’m so sick of seeing our Musical world turning into nothing more than a dance-off of who can do the most vulgar twerk and grind to distract from the fact they have no talent. May Lorde be just the beginning of a new generation that brings it back to what it’s REALLY about…MUSICAL Talent!

She looked horrible, what was with that frumpy outfit, frizzy hair, and pasty makeup? I understand she thinks its selling out and whatever to care about her looks, her weight and all, but she needs to at least take care of herself a little bit… I mean nobody wants to watch that spastic twitching and morose yelping… Lorde you need to have fun to be an entertainer you can’t bum everyone out and expect that all this will continue.

It was absolutely awful. Her twitching was bizarre, and she looked closer to 40 instead of 17/18. I think, though, that this is the year I’ve gotten too old to understand today’s music. I’m just going to stick with the Grateful Dead channel on XM where I still “get it”. :)

Rather disappointed in her performance. I get the stark, no frills performance but the jerking movements and bland outfit didn’t do her justice.
