Multiple Grammy nominee Lorde hit the stage for a stark performance of her smash hit “Royals” on Jan. 26, and she absolutely killed it!
Lorde’s Grammys Performance — She Rocks ‘Royals’
Jan. 26 was a huge night for Lorde, who was nominated for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance for her breakout hit “Royals,” as well as Best Pop Vocal Album for Pure Heroine.
For her big awards debut performance, Lorde chose to shock the crowd with a remixed version of “Royals.” The teenaged pop queen looked way more seasoned than a first-time Grammy performer.
In a simple black and white outfit — and spray-painted nail tips — Lorde sang her massive hit underneath minimal lighting, with a gothic angel statue projected behind her.
It was a flawless effort and just another sign of how talented the precocious star is. This is the future, people.
As a nominee for some of the biggest awards of the night, the expectations for Lorde were obviously high, but she clearly met them, and also proved that you don’t need to be flashy like Katy Perry or Taylor Swift (no offense, ladies) to captivate an entire audience.
So what do you think, HollywoodLifers? Did you love Lorde’s stark performance? Do you wish she sang a few other songs? Let us know in the comments!
