LL Cool J was the perfect choice to host the 56th Annual Grammy Awards on Jan. 26. He had fun with the crowd, but didn’t try to steal the spotlight from all of the featured performers and nominees. Are YOU happy he hosted again?
LL Cool J is a veteran of the music industry, so it’s no surprise he did such a great job hosting the 2014 Grammys on Jan. 26. The rapper, who hosted the Grammys in 2013, returned for another standout job. As an accomplished musician himself, he was able to relate to the audience — and he even cracked some jokes at his own expense!
LL Cool J Returns to Host 2014 Grammys
LL Cool J did such a good job as the host of the Grammy Awards in 2013, he was asked to return again, and we’re so glad he did! It’s no surprise the rapper and actor is so good at hosting the music industry’s most prestigious awards show — he’s been nominated for nine Grammys himself — and his love of music really shined through the entire program.
He opened the show with a heartfelt monologue that reminded us why we all love music so much.
“This is music’s biggest night because it’s first and foremost a true celebration of the power that music has to move us, inspire us, and to surprise us — like Beyonce did with her album,” he said.
He even joked about the harsh winter weather — and was smug about being in the warm climate of Los Angeles!
“Music warms us, which is a good thing for all of our friends back east, we’re thinking about you!”
LL Cool J Jokes About ‘NCIS’ Role
Not only is LL Cool J a Grammy award-winning musician, he’s also an accomplished actor with a starring role on the TV series NCIS. Since the height of his career was in the late ’80s and early ’90s, he made fun of himself during the awards show.
“It’s tough for me to admit, but the truth is there are probably millions of people that don’t know I make music here,” he joked. “But music is the vehicle that brought me here.”
We’re glad it also brought him back to the hosting the Grammys!
So what did you think of LL Cool J’s hosting the awards show, HollywoodLifers? Do you think he should be back to host again next year?
