‘Vampire Diaries’: Klaus & Caroline Have Sex — Season 5 Episode 11 Recap – Hollywood Life

‘Vampire Diaries’ Recap: Katherine’s Fight To ‘Survive’ Turns Desperate

Familiar faces, new twists and one hell of a hookup made for an unforgettable 100th episode of 'The Vampire Diaries.' Can you believe it's been 100 episodes already? It feels like only yesterday that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) sauntered into Mystic Falls, accompanied by some rolling fog and that ridiculous crow -- neither of which I was sad to see disappear forever. Anyway, the Jan. 23 episode of The Vampire Diaries was more than just a milestone for The CW's popular fang-fest; it was a 60-minute reminder of why we've loved, and will always love, this epic gem of a show.

With Katherine (Nina Dobrev) on her death bed, the episode began as a tribute to the troublemaking doppelgänger, which seamlessly transitioned into a tribute to the series, as Katherine was revealed to be the show’s true heart and soul. She’s the glue that’s kept everyone together — for better or, more often, worse — and even in her final days, she’s somehow still calling all the shots.

Through Kat’s hazy death-visions, we caught glimpses of some of our favorites — Jenna (Sara Canning), John (David Anders), Emily (Bianca Lawson) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) — and I loved every single visit, no matter how brief. Seeing her many enemies, as well as her few loved ones, helped to remind me how well-rounded a character Katherine really is; it’s become easy to pigeon-hole her in the villain category when she’s really more of an anti-hero.

Oh, Alaric (Matt Davis) and Vicki’s (Kayla Ewell) appearances also got me all choked up, even if they weren’t Katherine-induced.

Well, #Klaroline Finally Happened

It wasn’t the best-kept secret in the world — thanks a lot, Australian TV promos! — but that didn’t make Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) return to Mystic Falls any less impactful. In fact, I’m pretty sure I felt the lack of oxygen at 8:18 p.m., as all east-coast viewers gasped in shocked unison.

As always, Caroline (Candice Accola) tried desperately to fight off Klaus’ creepy, forceful advances — until he gave her a massive ultimatum. He ‘promised’ to leave town and never pursue her again, in exchange for her honesty, but what he got in response was a whole lot more than just honesty.

While I’m not the biggest fan of the Klaus-Caroline relationship — nor do I encourage forest sex, because bark is painful — even I have to admit: that s**t was hot!

That said, I was thrilled when Tyler (Michael Trevino) walked into the Salvatores’ living room. Rebekah (Claire Holt) sure does give good parting gifts! I only hope Tyler can forgive Caroline for doing the nasty with the enemy…

Whose Body Is It Anyway?

Am I the only one who entered the hour fully prepared to say my last goodbyes to Katherine Pierce? I swear, there are probably cats jealous of how many lives this girl has.

Thanks to some out-of-the-box thinking on Nadia’s (Olga Fonda) part, it seems that Kat will indeed live to see another day. With a little help from Elena and Stefan (Paul Wesley), Nadia used Kat’s Traveler powers to move her into someone else’s body; and not just any body: Elena’s!

Needless to say, Katherine’s about to raise some serious hell in Mystic Falls. And I’d expect nothing less!

HollywoodLifers, what did you think of The Vampire Diaries‘ 100th episode? Are you glad Katherine lived to see (at least) another day? Did you stand up and cheer with Caroline hooked up with Klaus? Drop a comment with your full review of the episode below!
