Kanye West called his bride-to-be Kim Kardashian and daughter North a family of ‘astronauts’ in a recent interview with director Steve McQueen for ‘Interview’ magazine. The rapper also talked about experiencing fatherhood, revealing how he wants to teach his daughter to dream and shoot for the stars.
Kanye West is known for saying crazy things, and this time, he bizarrely called his fiancée Kim Kardashian and their daughter North, “astronauts” while calling himself a “broadcaster for futurism.” He also explained that he wants to instill out-of-this-world confidence in his daughter — just like he has!
Kanye West On Family — Rapper Wants To Teach North West His ‘Confidence’
In Kanye’s long interview with 12 Years a Slave director, Steve McQueen, he responded to questions about his unconditional love towards North, and how things have changed since he became a father.
“I think I have to experience it [fatherhood] for another few years to be able to give you an opinion,” he told McQueen for Interview. “It’s all brand new, how it feels to be a father. There are some things that I understand, certain things that I don’t understand, certain things that I like to get off my chest in interviews, certain things that I want to talk about. But when we talk about love, I don’t have an answer. All I can say is that I’m happy I have it.”
Kanye couldn’t stop gushing about his family, but he bizarrely referred to them as “astronauts.”
“Well, I’ve got my astronaut family. You know, becoming famous is like being catapulted into space—sometimes without a space suit. We’ve seen so many people combust, suffocate, get lost in all these different things. But to have an anchor of other astronauts and to make a little space family…I wanted a family.”
Kanye hopes that the wisdom he learned from his late mother and grandpa will be passed down to Nori.
“The teachings and the confidence that was instilled by my grandfather into my mother, and from my mother into me—which will now, of course, be instilled by me into North—will create the best winter coat against doubters and dream-killers ever made,” he said.
Kanye West: ‘I’m A Broadcaster For Dreamers’
Kanye went onto say that he it is his job to advocate for dreamers.
“Too many people are scared,” he said. “But it is my job to go up every night and talk about this kind of sh*t. It is actually my job. I’m like a broadcaster for futurism, for dreamers, for people who believe in themselves.”
Kanye wants his family and fans to keep living the dream. “We’ve been taught since day one to stop believing in our own dreams. We’ve had the confidence beaten out of us since day one, through these lines that we have to walk inside of so as to not break the uniform or look silly or be laughed at,” he explained. So I hope that there are people out there laughing. Laugh loud, please. Laugh until your lungs give out because I will have the last laugh.”
What do YOU think HollyMoms? Do you think Kanye should teach North how to dream?
