Uncle Si’s ultimate takeover of ‘Duck Dynasty’ continued on Jan. 22, with the old geezer strapping a camera to his head to give the audience a little point-of-view action. And yes, it was just as ridiculous as it sounds.
Technology has turned on us — no one should ever have to know what it’s like to be in the mind of Duck Dynasty‘s Uncle Si. But the Jan. 22 episode went there when the bespectacled one learned what a GoPro camera was. Elsewhere, Willie Robertson and the kids had a roadside picnic (natch). As we do, let’s count down the best things we heard during all this West Monroe mayhem.
‘Duck Dynasty’ Season 5 Episode 3: The 5 Best Quotes
“Even if you need to record something on your VCR, hey, Jep’s the man to call.” — Uncle Si
I’m pretty sure Si was talking about using a DVR — I doubt he meant he still records television shows onto VHS tapes. Then again, we’ve all seen his personal collection of Air Bud. Anyways, Jep introduced Si to technology tonight, namely the advances that have been made with handheld cameras. And that is how we get to Si becoming a GoPro camera auteur, recounting his days in the Vietnam War, and saying things like…
“From this moment on, okay, hey, the truth will be known — nobody’s gonna be able to look at Si Robertson again with a crooked eye and say, ‘Hey, that guy’s head ain’t on right.'” — Uncle Si
If only Si wasn’t wearing a special ed helmet that dangled a small camera right in front of his face when he said this.
“If you don’t like the Golden Girls, I don’t like you.” — Jep Robertson
For awhile I’ve struggled with why I don’t particularly like Jase Robertson, but thankfully Jep boiled it down perfectly in this episode. Jase is so busy being Mr. Cool Guy that he doesn’t (or pretends not to) remember that joke on Golden Girls that Stanley, Dorothy’s ex, told that one time. GET WITH THE PROGRAM, JASE!
“Just a little road construction, no problem.” — Willie Robertson
The famous last words of a man who misses the LSU football game (just a note, I’ve been to one, and Willie’s right — they’re awesome) because of some major roadwork and a little “manly,” horrendous backroad navigating. Willie and his kids John Luke and Sadie don’t make it to Tiger Stadium but they get the next best thing — and by that I mean they have a picnic on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere.
“Charlie’s around.” — Uncle Si
Welcome to the Vietnam Platoon-inspired hallucinations of Si Robertson! Through the GoPro lens, we see that our favorite uncle has decided to turn the guys’ deer hunt into “an epic war movie.” Let me just remind you, people let this guy hold a loaded gun.
So what were your favorite moments of the Jan. 22 episode? Let me know!
