Batista is back, and he’s got his ‘eyes’ on the WWE Heavyweight Championship!
It’s been nearly four years since WWE fans caught a glimpse of Dave Batista in the ring — until now. The legendary “Leviathan” returned to Monday Night Raw on Jan. 20 to confront Randy Orton, as well as to announce his intentions to steal the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. “Oddly enough, it felt like I was right at home,” Batista told WWE.com of his big return. “I was so nervous leading up to this, but once I got out there, it felt … familiar.”
While some fans were stunned by Batista’s return, those who have been paying attention to promos probably weren’t as taken aback. His triumphant re-entrance into the WWE universe was first touted Dec. 23 during Raw, and on Jan. 6, it was confirmed that he would be participating in the Royal Rumble Match on Jan. 26.
Batista Drops A ‘Bomb’ On Alberto Del Rio
Of course, confronting Randy Orton and claiming his stake to the Championship weren’t the only things on Batista’s agenda last night. He also came head-to-head with Alberto Del Rio, who’s been shooting off his mouth for weeks about Batista, delivering an epic Batista Bomb.
“It feels good,” Batista told WWE.com of his confrontation with Del Rio. “It feels satisfying.”
That said, it might surprise some of Batista’s fans to learn he’s not always as confident as he appears.
“It’s so funny, I tell people all the time … I was a really shy kid; like painfully shy,” Batista explained. “I tell people that and they never believe me, but up until my last match when I left … I get butterflies, and sometimes I’m, like, dry heaving. … It’s nerve wracking.”
Batista Confirms His Royal Rumble Plans
“Like I said tonight, my eyes are on the WWE Heavyweight Championship,” Batista told WWE.com. “I’m not looking past the Rumble. I’m going to win the Rumble and go from there; I want that title. That’s why I came back. I’ve said for years and years and years … I want to be the undisputed champion.”
