Lori reveals her close encounter on the ABC comedy’s set — and which former ‘Full House’ co-star wrote the part just for her!
Prepare to see a whole new side of Lori Loughlin! The former 90210 and Full House star is guest starring on the Jan. 17 episode of ABC’s The Neighbors, and her new role is far from the sweet-as-sugar personas we’re used to seeing her play. “I’m playing kind of a mean girl, which is fun,” Lori tells HollywoodLife.com about her character Tina, the high school nemesis of Jami Gertz‘s Debbie.
“Tina shows up to the reunion to tell everybody just how fabulous she is, and how fantastic her life turned out,” Lori says. “She has a lot of money and she has a pilates trainer and she lives in a big house and her husband is very successful. She’s definitely just showing up to rub everybody’s nose in that.”
This irks Debbie, understandably, but what she does next is beyond anything you’d expect from the seemingly mild-mannered mom.
“Jami and I have some fun scenes together; she tries to trump me, and as you can imagine, it becomes a disaster that starts to spiral out of control,” Lori teases. “It’s a funny episode!”
Lori Loughlin’s ‘Full House’ Reunion On ‘The Neighbors’ Set
Lori’s guest spot also doubles as a sort-of reunion for her, as she’s getting to work with some of her closest friends in the industry.
“Scott Weinger, who was on Full House with me — he played Candace Cameron‘s boyfriend Steve, and he also did the voice of Aladdin many years ago — is a writer now, and he wrote the part specifically for me,” Lori explains. “He called me up and he said, ‘I’m working on The Neighbors, and we need this woman to come in and be Debbie’s high school nemesis. I wrote it with you in mind. I’d be so honored if you’d come play with us.’ Of course, Jami Gertz is also an old, old friend of mine. I was so happy to go in and be a part of that show for one episode. They’re just a great group of people, and it’s such a funny show. It is really funny.”
Lori’s episode of The Neighbors airs Jan. 16 at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC!
