Curtis Lepore and Jessi Smiles are two of the most beloved ‘stars’ on Vine, so needless to say their fans were shocked when Curtis was accused of raping Jessi, his ex-girlfriend, while she was asleep with a concussion.
How horrible! Curtis Lepore, who has over 3.4 million followers on Vine, allegedly raped his ex-girlfriend Jessi Smiles (whose real name is Jessica Vazquez) last summer when she was fast asleep with a concussion.
Curtis Lepore Accused Of Raping Jessi Smiles
Curtis and Jessie (who has about 2.7 million Vine followers) seemed like an Internet match made in heaven, until they mysteriously broke up last summer. TMZ reports that Jessi flew to see Curtis in Los Angeles last August, but they couple had a fight and they broke up. Then Jessi reportedly suffered a concussion while shooting a Vine video, and allowed her recent ex to come over and take care of her while she was recovering. She fell asleep, and that’s when the alleged rape happened.
According to TMZ‘s sources, Curtis was arrested for the crime in October and released on $100,000 bail, but the whole thing somehow flew under the radar. He appeared in court on Jan. 14, and plead “not guilty” to the crime.
Of course rape is a big deal in every circumstance, but if Curtis is found guilty it will cause an uproar in the Vine community. The couple publicly started and ended their relationship on the social media app, and even met for the first time in New York City in front of hundreds of their fans on Aug. 4 — an event which was captured on Vine.
Curtis Lepore: ‘There Are Two Sides Of Every Story’
Since Curtis and Jessi are known for their social media presence, it makes sense that they both responded to the scandal publicly, via messages to their millions of followers. Jessi sent multiple cryptic tweets after the alleged rape, while Curtis responded to the TMZ story with a Vine that basically states his innocence. “There’s two sides to every story,” he says. “When the time is right, I will have something to say.”
