Tina and Amy got a major dig in at Taylor during the 71st Annual Golden Globes but HollywoodLife.com has learned that it was all in good fun. Do you think the diss was mean?
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler made headlines when they dissed Taylor Swift at the Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 12. Even though Taylor wasn’t thrilled to be the butt of a joke once again, HollywoodLife.com has learned exactly why they decided that the country singer was a good target.
Tina Fey & Amy Poehler: Why They Dissed Taylor Swift
“Amy and Tina do everything as a joke, and if someone like Taylor is going to add to the joke by talking or feeling hurt on it, then that helps their comedy,” a source close to the hosts told HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “They don’t hate Taylor, they just see her as a easy target. The gift that keeps on giving so to speak.”
And it did keep giving after last year! When they poked fun at her at the 2013 awards, telling her to stay away from Michael J. Fox‘s son, Taylor responded in a later interview saying that there was “a special place in Hell” for women who don’t stick up for other women.
So, after that — the ball was back in the hosts’ hands, and apparently they felt it was there turn to diss. So after Amy won for Best Actress in a Comedy, Tina said, “I love you and there’s a special place in Hell for you!”
Amy & Tina Planned On ‘Getting Back At Her’
“It was geared directly towards Taylor,” the source added. “They were thinking of getting back at her at some point during the show and had a few jokes lined up, and it just happened to have worked at that moment to do what they did.”
It’s all fun and games and we know that Tina and Amy are all about joking — that was what the entire night was about!
So HollywoodLifers, what do you think about the diss? Do you think it was rude or do you understand why Taylor’s a target? Let us know!
