O.J. Mayo (born Ovinton J’Anthony Mayo in Huntington, West Virginia on November 5, 1987) is a former professional basketball player, who last played for the Milwaukee Bucks before being dismissed from the national league. O.J. was the star of his collegiate team at the University of Southern California, averaging 32 points a game. In 2008, he was selected as the third overall pick in the 2008 NBA drat by the Memphis Grizzlies. And in just his first season, he was named the NBA All-Rookie Player. O.J. played with the Grizzlies from 2008 until 2012, when he officially signed to the Dallas Mavericks in 2012. In his first season with the Mavericks, he achieved his career high in points scoring 40 points against the Houston Rockets. At the end of his run with the Dallas team in 2013, he announced he would become a free agent, which opened doors for a new contract deal. In July 2013, O.J. signed a three-year, $24 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. The former point guard missed 11 games during the 2014-15 season due to conditioning issues and injuries, but made up for his absence by recording outstanding performances in games against the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics. On July 1, 2016, the NBA announced that O.J. had been dismissed and disqualified from the professional league for violating the league’s anti drug program.
