It’s up for debate whether Lil Wayne is the best rapper of his generation, but he’s without a doubt the most shocking. From a near-death experience (and a handful of death hoaxes) to his eventful tryst with Nicki Minaj, Weezy always has fans on the edge of their seats.
There’s just something about Lil Wayne — the drama follows him like a wild pack of dogs. Whether he’s flirting with Nicki Minaj (or possibly fathering a child with her), facing death hoaxes, or actual death, there is never a dull moment in the life of Weezy.
Lil Wayne: Rapper’s Most Shocking Moments
Wayne’s had normal hip-hop controversies — like in Feb. 2013 when his verse on “Karate Chop” included an offensive reference to Emmett Till — and then he’s had much crazier moments. For example, what other rapper gets banned from NBA games for allegedly sleeping with a player’s wife? That happened to Weezy in Feb. 2013 when he claimed he had slept with Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh‘s wife, Adrienne Williams-Bosh.
Some of Weezy’s wilder moments have happened with the help of his fellow rapper Nicki. Fans lost their minds on May 19, 2013 when Nicki sat Lil Wayne down on the Billboard Music Awards stage and went to town. Her sexy lap dance totally X-rated, and Wayne just sat there in pleasure while the world looked on in shock.
The only thing that was more shocking was when we heard that we may have been watching parents perform on that Billboard stage. On Jan. 7, 2014, a report surfaced speculating that Nicki was pregnant — with Weezy’s baby! Okay, too far — I don’t know if we want to see the spawn of Nicki and Wayne.
Lil Wayne’s Near-Death Experience
Unfortunately, some of Lil Wayne’s shocking moments have been deathly serious — literally. On Mar. 15, 2013, Wayne was rushed to the ICU after suffering multiple seizures. The rapper was in critical condition, and his mother even flew to Los Angeles to possibly discuss taking Wayne off of life support.
It was a grim, grim scene, and for a considerable time it appeared that the world would be losing an iconic rapper. Thankfully, Wayne made it out alive — and he’s been back to normal, causing havoc ever since.
