The 18-year-old became a frontrunner for a medal at the upcoming Sochi Winter Olympics when she won first place at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships on Jan. 11, and trust us, she’s a lot more than a flashy name and some double axels.

Before the young skater takes the ice, she juggles to calm her nerves, according to Ice Network.
3. The Golds Are Medically Inclined
Gracie has expressed interest in becoming a physician after her skating career is over, and it’s no wonder why. Her mother Denise, is an ER nurse and her father Carl, is an anesthesiologist.
4. She’s A Cali Girl Now
Gracie is originally from Newton, Mass., but she recently moved to Los Angeles to soak up the sun and continue her training. Her favorite part of Cali living? Hearing the ocean as she falls asleep.
5. She’s A Bit Of An Animal Person
