Hollywood has officially begun the difficult task of replacing Paul Walker in the late star’s final films. Fans will still see Paul in ‘Fast & Furious 7,’ but actors from ‘Homeland’ and ‘X-Men’ have been offered Paul’s roles in his other projects.
When Paul Walker died in a horrific car accident on Nov. 30, he left multiple uncompleted film projects in his wake. Now, six weeks later, two handsome leading men have been tapped to replace Paul in his final roles. Find out more below!
‘Homeland’ Actor Rupert Friend Joins ‘Agent 47’
Rupert Friend, who is best known as the anti-hero Peter Quinn on Homeland, is officially on board to replace Paul in Agent 47, a sequel to the 2007 Timothy Olyphant-starrer Hitman that was based on the Square Enix videogame. Per Variety, the show almost did not go on since Paul’s commitment was a major part of the film getting greenlit, but the original’s relative financial success justified a second go-round.
James Marsden In Talks For ‘The Best Of Me’
Paul was also set to star in a Nicholas Sparks flick called The Best of Me, and now HollywoodLife.com‘s sister site Deadline is reporting that X-Men and Anchorman 2 star James Marsden has been offered Paul’s role. A deal still needs to be negotiated, but it’s looking more and more likely that James will star as the romantic lead opposite Michelle Monaghan — though True Blood were-hunk Joe Manganiello came close.
Like all other Sparks films Best of Me is based on a book, and this one is about two former high school sweethearts who reunite after spending 20 years apart. Sparks fly when they return to their small town for a friend’s funeral, but the forces that drove them apart still manage to get in the way.
Sounds like it would have been a great role for Paul, but hopefully James will step up and knock it out of the park for all of those dedicated Sparks fans.
HollywoodLife.com has reached out to reps for Rupert Friend and James Marsden for comment.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Are James and Rupert good choices to replace Paul?
