Miley twerked, Florida Georgia Line cruised, and Kim Kardashian Instagrammed. As the page turned on another year, celebrities really went all out. Here are our favorite moments from the big night.
Sometimes New Year’s Eve doesn’t live up to all the hype, but that wasn’t the case this year. Whether it was Miley Cyrus twerking in Times Square, or Mariah Carey belting out the final notes of 2013, the biggest stars really helped us ring in 2014 with a bang.
Miley Cyrus & More: Perfect Performances On New Year’s Eve
Considering Miley was the only singer anyone was talking about all year, it’s only fitting that she rang in 2013 in Times Square — the heart of New Year’s Eve! As one would expect from a Miley performance, there was plenty of twerking, and a surprising amount of skin, considering how cold it was in New York City.
Miley was joined by Florida Georgia Line, who also dominated the radio this year with their hit song “Cruise.” They played their hit, “Round Here,” at a concert in Hollywood.
Elsewhere, Robin Thicke suited up for the west coast edition of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. In a sleek tux, Robin performed “Blurred Lines” — another song that was huge this year. Seriously, Miley, FGL, and Robin Thicke — who could have asked for anything more?
Demi Lovato & Ian Somerhalder: International New Year’s Eve Superstars
And even though she was in another country, we still loved Demi Lovato‘s performance as part of ET Canada’s New Year’s Eve celebration. Far from her home state of Texas, Demi looked so cute all bundled up. 2013 was such a huge year for her, and now that she’s decided to leave The X Factor to focus on her music, we’re so excited to see what she has up her sleeve!
We also have to give a shout out to The Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder, who showed love to his fans all the way from Tokyo, Japan. He Instagrammed a sexy selfie — glass of champagne in hand, of course — wishing his faithful viewers a happy 2014.
A Kim Kardashian New Year’s Eve
And somewhere in paradise, Kim Kardashian was ringing in the new year with her two best buds. In a cute Instagram pic, Kim showed baby North‘s tiny little hand holding Kim’s enormous engagement ring. “It was an amazing year!!!” Kim captioned the photo, highlighting the two huge life moments — her first baby and her engagement to Kanye West — that happened to her in 2013.
And considering all the fun that was had during New Year’s Eve, thanks to Moët & Chandon they successfully took over New York City to ring in 2014 with the glamour and style they are accustomed to. Not only did Moët debut as the official champagne of Times Square New Year’s Eve but Moët’s VP Thomas Bouleuc was also invited to ring the final closing bell of the New York Stock Exchange. Moët’s involvement in these iconic New Year’s Eve moments highlights what is considered the perfect pairing worldwide, champagne and New Year’s Eve.
