Holiday Nail Ideas — Get Shay Mitchell’s Magical Mani
To get your nails holiday ready, you will need NCLA Rush Hour red nail polish, NCLA Bullion in a Bottle gold glitter, and Seche Vite top coat. To create the cheerful designs, get white acrylic paint, striping tape, a striping brush, a dotting tool, Swarovski crystals, and brush-on nail glue.
Five Easy Steps To Get Shay’s Nails
Here’s the tutorial straight from her nail artist Steph Stone:
“1. On a clean and dry nail plate paint your nails two coats of red nail polish and on a select few accent nails paint two coats of your gold glitter polish. I especially like NCLA “Bullion In A Bottle” for your gold polish because it has flecks of various colors of glitter in it which makes it great for this festive holiday nail look. Allow to dry.
2. On one of your red nails take striping tape and lay it straight down the center of the nail vertically. Then lay a second piece down horizontally across the middle of your nail creating a cross with your two pieces of striping tape. Next lay two more pieces down creating an X going through your cross. Your nail should be divided in to 8 sections.
3. Next take your white acrylic paint and striping brush. I recommend using acrylic paint instead of white nail polish because the acrylic paint is a little easier to control when painting fine details. Paint a V shape pointing outwards from the center in every section of your nail. Then fill in those V’s with more white acrylic paint. Allow a few minutes to dry.
4. Once you have let your white paint dry peel up the striping tape and you will be left with festive looking white poinsettia leaves! Brush a small dot of nail glue in the center of your leaves. Using a dotting tool dipped in top coat to pick up one of your gems, place the in the center of the flower where you placed your nail glue.
5. On your remaining red nails, use your white acrylic paint and striping brush to paint various stripes horizontally across your nails. Then in between your stripes, use your dotting tool dipped in white acrylic paint to place white polka dots in between your stripes. It is also really cute to replace one of your white polka dots with a Swarovski crystal!”
