Lamar is using his divorce from Khloe as an opportunity to now focus on parenting his children, and HollywoodLife.com has learned that he actually blames Khloe for his strained relationship with his kids.
Lamar Odom is taking strides to repair his relationship with his two children, 15-year-old Destiny and 11-year-old Lamar Jr. The former NBA player says the effort he put into keeping up with his marriage to Khloe Kardashian has previously prevented him from being great dad, HollywoodLife.com learned EXCLUSIVELY.
Lamar Odom’s Kids: Blames Khloe Kardashian For His Failed Parenting Relationship
Lamar says he wasn’t able to spend time with Destiny or Lamar Jr. — hid kids with ex Liza Morales — when he was married to Khloe, because he felt she demanded so much of his attention.
“He blames her for monopolizing his time,” a source close to Lamar EXCLUSIVELY explained to HollywoodLife.com. “He put a lot of energy into that relationship and that Kardashian lifestyle and he lost track of his relationships with his family, especially [his father] Joe and his kids.
“He was so much more focused on Khloe and trying to start a family with her that he wasn’t spending a lot of time with his own kids,” the source revealed.
Why Lamar Odom Wants To Be A Hands-On Father
Lamar, 34, admits that he has been an absent father and now wants to spend his days trying to return to the NBA and having a more hands-on role as a father.
“He’s been doing that for the last month and I’ve got to tell you he feels good about it,” the source said of Lamar reconnecting with his father and kids. “He’s trying to be a good father, a role model now that Khloes out of the picture. It’s no longer all about her all the time.”
