We saw that, Demi! ‘The X Factor’ finale on Dec. 20 hit an awkward patch when the show aired a segment accusing the singer of drinking ‘Annoying Juice’ and cameras caught her looking EXTREMELY peeved! Watch the clip below.
Hey, The X Factor, remember that time Demi Lovato, one of the judges on your show, had a debilitating alcohol addiction? We ask, because it seems like the producers of the show forgot on Dec. 20 when they aired an insensitive clip of Demi drinking a mysterious substance and she responded with a huge F-bomb!
Demi Lovato Drops F-Bomb On ‘The X Factor’
The clip was a joke (at least an attempt at one) on why Demi has been getting on Simon Cowell‘s nerve all season, and attributed it to the “juice” she’s been drinking. The segment digitally altered previous footage to make it look like Demi was feverishly sucking down some neon green concoction. Considering Demi’s very public, very real past struggles with alcohol addiction, there was no way anyone could watch the segment and not be reminded of those substance abuse issues.
Demi clearly felt like The X Factor was drudging up her sordid past too, and as the camera cut to her for a reaction shot, she was clearly — and angrily — saying, “That’s f**ked up” to her fellow judge Kelly Rowland.
When host Mario Lopez asked Demi what she thought about the segment, through gritted teeth she answered, “I think it’s very, very clear I don’t drink anymore. “Annoying Juice” has become my new favorite drink and I love it because I get to annoy Simon with it.”
Demi Lovato: Why Wouldn’t She Get Upset By ‘X Factor’ Clip
We get that The X Factor was just trying to create a funny clip, but come on! Demi is so outspoken about her past struggles with drinking that the producers of the show should have just avoided the comparison altogether. Obviously “Annoying Juice” isn’t a serious concept, but The X Factor shouldn’t have even risked offending their star. No wonder she’s quitting the show.
And while it’s unfortunate that Demi was caught dropping an F-bomb, we are impressed that she was able to bottle up her anger and move on from the awkward moment.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Are you on Demi’s side, or do you think she overreacted? Let us know!
