It’s been nearly ten years since we first met Ron Burgundy, and now his legend continues with the Dec. 18 premiere of ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.’ The critics have officially weighed in, and most seem to agree that the laughs are well worth the price of admission.

Will Ferrell gave the world an entire encyclopedia of infectious quotes when Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy premiered in 2004. Now, Will, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner, and Christina Applegate have all returned for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continuesand most critics agree that the gang has aged like a fine wine. Find out what they had to say below!

‘Anchorman 2′ Reviews: Not A Disaster!

Sequels to beloved films like Anchorman can be a terrifying prospect, so it’s nice to know that most top critics enjoyed the film. Maybe not as much as the first one, but still — a 77 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes for a comedy sequel is practically unprecedented. The consensus seems to be that Anchorman 2 has packed in so many jokes that at least some of them are bound to make you laugh:

Time Out

“Not the disaster some feared it might be, but neither is it the endlessly quotable, deliciously idiotic follow-on so many of us were optimistically anticipating.”

Hollywood Reporter

“It’s bawdy, on-target in its take on what’s become of TV news, and packed with wacky performers.”

The Wrap

“It’s a constant barrage of joke-joke-joke, but they’re all gags that take place in the moment and are immediately shoved aside for the next one. Nothing builds. There are no setups for later payoffs.”

Variety

“A modestly less quotable but generously funny new adventure for scotch-and-mahogany-loving 1970s newsman Ron Burgundy, here catapulted into 1980 and the dawn of the 24-hour news cycle.”

New York Times

“The sheer density of the jokes guarantees a few laughs for every taste … and the loose, improvisational energy of the performers keeps things lively.”

Well there you have it! What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Do you love Anchorman 2 like it’s lamp, or, like milk, do you think it’s a bad choice?
