Tiffany Houghton has a lot to say — and the beautiful voice to go along with it! The 20-year-old pop star revealed the love story behind her new song, ‘Phone Call,’ exclusively to HollywoodLife.com.
On Dec. 10, Tiffany Houghton released her second song and music video for “Phone Call,” a love story that every girl can relate to.
“I was dating someone who, at the time, I was really really into, but he was still pretty into his ex girlfriend,” Tiffany told HollywoodLife.com in an exclusive interview. “She was 1600 miles away but still closer to him than me, and it was so disappointing.”
The song features singer-songwriter Jimmie Deeghan, who input a lot into the emotional black and white video as well as the strong lyrics.
Tiffany Houghton’s Second Song Shows Different Side
“He’s an incredible writer. He’s very critical of his lyrics too, so we worked well together. We wrote this song on his front porch in Nashville,” she told me.
This video is much more emotional and raw than her first one, “High.” While the song was also about a love story, it focused the high moments of a relationship — that great feeling you get when you’re in love.
“It’s a different journal entry, a different story,” she told me. “Most of what my fans will hear this year is more similar to ‘High,’ but I wanted to show my fans this side of who I am as well. The pain I put into this song is real. I have moved on from this guy now, but as I read back over my journal entries it hurt me to see how much I was putting myself through. Nothing hurts like crushed hope.”
Tiffany Houghton Talks Dating, Emblem 3 & ‘Midnight Memories’
So it’s no secret that she likes writing about love — but what does that mean for her personal love life? Well, she has a few things she looks for.
“I like a guy that genuinely cares about the things that I care about — someone that you can count on to look after you and be a best friend,” she said. “Oh and a guitar strapped to his back doesn’t hurt either!”
Well of course not! However, as for the famous men in the industry, she’s just blown away by their talent.
“I’d still love to do something with Austin Mahone or Emblem 3,” she said before we brought up that epic mashup she did of One Direction‘s “Midnight Memories.” (Watch it here!) While she said on the video she couldn’t pick one song to perform, she did tell us she has one favorite.
“‘Little White Lies.'” she told us. “Those boys are so freaking talented! The album is still in repeat every morning as I’m getting ready!”
Well Tiffany, I do too!
