What does Quinn’s face taste like? Is there something more going on between her and Huck? Katie Lowes and Guillermo Diaz answer all of our burning questions.
It’s hard to imagine tonight’s midseason finale of Scandal being more insane than last week’s game-changing hour, but stars Guillermo Diaz and Katie Lowes assure HollywoodLife.com that we’re in for an unforgettable ride. The stars recently told us about the future of “Huckleberry Quinn,” why Mama Pope is the real monster — and, of course, last week’s nightmare-inducing torture scene.
Guillermo Diaz & Katie Lowes: ‘Scandal’ Finale Q&A
HollywoodLife: So, Guillermo, what does Katie’s face taste like?
Guillermo: In that moment, it tasted salty because she was crying.
Katie: He was literally licking the tears off my face.
Guillermo: It also tasted yummy, with a little bit of fear.
HollywoodLife: What kind of mindset were you in for that scene? You must have felt weird.
Guillermo: It was weird. I felt exhilarated and weird and strange and scared — all those things Huck was feeling, I was feeling as well. Katie and I are really close in real life, so we were comfortable with each other, and I think that made the scene even more than it was. We were able to take bigger risks and get really close to each other and touch each other. That was really good.
Katie: I feel really lucky. Since shooting this episode, I’ve met so many friends who have a real tooth fear. A lot of people have phobias about mouths and dentists, and now I can’t walk down the street without people telling me about them. Thankfully, I don’t have that fear. … I trust Guillermo with my life, and I trust our crew — they’re like a family to me. But the scene was still scary and emotional for so many reasons. But as an actor, you’re freakin’ psyched that you get to do something so amazing and challenging.
Huck & Quinn’s Future: Friendship & Potential Romance
HollywoodLife: Huck and Quinn had a great relationship before this torture business. Could they possibly go back?
Guillermo: I think there will be a tear in their relationship, to say the least. But they’re both part of this dysfunctional family, so I think they’ll go back to being some form of friends, just not in a conventional way. Now, I think Huck might have even more respect for her after putting her through so much. And she might feel, oddly enough, a new closeness to Huck. … On the finale, there is a scene between Huck and Quinn at the office, and it’s pretty intense.
Katie: On the finale, you’re going to see what Huckleberry Quinn is like post-torture. You’ll also learn why Mama Pope is the monster, not Rowan. And how about that whole Sally Langston situation? It’s crazy to think that Huck and Quinn’s intense story is only part of everything that’s going on.
HollywoodLife: A lot of people think there’s some real sexual tension between them. Will we see any of that in the future?
Guillermo: Honestly, I like the fact that their relationship is platonic. I think it’s more interesting this way.
Katie: Clearly, the whole sexual thing is coming from Quinn because she thinks Huck is so hot.
HollywoodLife: But she prefers his homeless disguise look, of course.
Katie: Yes! She loves Homeless Huck. That’s what gets her off.
Guillermo: She has a poster of Homeless Huck in her apartment.
Katie: No, I think that why their relationship is so interesting is because it’s not sexual. It started as a mentor-mentee thing, but we do get a lot of fans who are holding out hope that it’ll become more. We have no idea! But whatever they write and whatever they want is going to be awesome. We have faith in that.
