We’ve been obsessed with Kim Kardashian’s blonde hair ever since she debuted the new hue in September. The colorist who created her new look is spilling EXCLUSIVELY to HollywoodLife.com on how you can get it for yourself!
Kim Kardashian got a dramatic hair makeover in early September thanks to celebrity colorist and Kardashian favorite George Papanikolas. She showed off her golden hair with a yellow coat and yellow satin dress at The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment breakfast on Dec. 11. George spilled his hair color secrets ONLY with HollywoodLife.com — see his top tips below!
Kim Kardashian’s Blonde Hair — Her Colorist Speaks Out
Just because it seemed like Kim was suddenly blonde, it’s not that easy for normal women.
“If you have dark hair, and you want Kim’s look, you will usually need to lighten your base color, and then get highlights,” George tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “It also usually requires several sessions to get it from dark to light. I never recommend doing in in one session. You get the best results over several months, and you need to factor in the financial and time commitments to maintain a lighter color.”
Hot Holiday Hair Trends From George
George, who was named a Celebrity Hairstylist for Matrix on Dec. 3, says to keep hair color vibrant and shiny, you can rely on one powerful line of haircare: “Using the complete Biolage Advanced Keratindose system two times a week will keep hair in its best condition, especially if you highlight.”
Since we’re deep into the holiday season, we asked George about seasonal trends: “Soft tone on tone highlights are perfect for the season. If you are going somewhere tropical, a few strategically placed pops of blonde around the face are the perfect accent to your winter tan.”
I am always concerned about product build-up. Here’s how you can de-junk your hair:
“Visit your stylist for a professional clarifying shampoo wash every few months. I love Matrix Alternate Action Clarifying Shampoo because it helps lift off excess residue without overly stripping the hair of natural oils like most clarifying shampoos. You can find out if a salon near you offers the treatment by using Matrix’s Salon Finder.
Do you like to highlight your hair in the winter, HollywoodLifers?
