So tragic! A Texas mom allegedly stabbed her toddler son just two days before his second birthday. The police who responded to the scene said the woman was ‘hysterical’ when admitting to the crime, but could not provide any motive.
Tashawna Caldwell, 26, was arrested and charged with capital murder after she told police she stabbed her nearly 2-year-old son Caiden Parker on Dec. 8. Police described the mom as “hysterical” when they arrived at her home — and they found another woman and young child huddling for safety in a nearby room.

Caldwell reportedly made two separate confessions to committing the horrific stabbing: once to police when they arrived, and again in an official statement, according to The Daily Mail. She was unable to explain her actions with a motive.
A second woman with an older child were also found in the home. They had barricaded themselves in another room and were able to survive the attack. The other child suffered only “minor scratches,” to his body, according to police. Authorities did not release the identity of the others in the home, or their relationship to Caldwell.
Caldwell was charged with capital murder of a child and is being held in jail with bond set at $1 million.
Police Shocked By Stabbing Of Toddler
Even the police were shaken by this horrific story. “It’s very tragic. It’s hard on everyone involved — even the most seasoned officers,” Sheriff David Soward said. “It’s something you don’t ever forget because it’s so senseless. There’s not a more innocent victim than a child, and for his life to be snuffed out because of actions of his mother is just unbelievable.”
Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time.
