Olivia Pope is getting a little bit of a vacation. ‘Scandal’ cut back on the number of episodes that will make up Season 3 — due to lead actress Kerry’s growing baby bump!
Kerry Washington is hiding her pregnancy well, but pretty soon that growing bump will be way too noticeable to continue filming. In fact, “ABC has trimmed Scandal‘s Season 3 episode order from 22 to 18,” HollywoodLife.com‘s sister site TVLine learned.
Kerry Washington’s Pregnancy: ‘Scandal’ Season 3 Cut Short
“The network gave no official explanation for the cutback, but it’s safe to say the decision was made in response to the real-life pregnancy of leading lady [Kerry],” reported TVLine.
Shooting the final four episodes originally planned for the season would be extremely difficult considering the timing of Kerry’s spring due date — especially since, as we previously reported, the show decided not to write Kerry’s real-life pregnancy into the plot of the show.
The network also briefly considered writing Kerry, 36, out of the storyline for the last few options, but that just would not have been a good move!
Kerry Washington Hides Baby Bump On Set Of ‘Scandal’
While filming her latest episode of Scandal in Los Angeles on Dec. 9, Kerry kept her figure concealed in a stunning white coat with vertical piping and shiny front buttons. The coat was so Olivia Pope-chic, but it also kept her all covered up!
Scandal will have run 10 episodes of Season 3 after the show’s fall finale on Dec. 12, 2013. Eight episodes will remain when the show comes back on Feb. 27, 2014.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Do you think it was a good decision to cut the season short?
