Kim Zolciak showed off her new size 4 body literally days after welcoming her twin babies, Kaia and Kane on Nov. 25. We couldn’t believe how slim Kim’s new mommy curves were! After all, who could forget Kim’s 48-inch (she measured!) baby bump? HollywoodLife.com interviewed a medical weight loss expert to get some details on how Kim may have lost the weight — and how you can set yourself up for similar results the healthy way.

“Baby weight is the sum of the actual weight of the babies plus the extra fat the body gained plus the water retention plus muscles plus bones,” Dr. J. Shah, Double Board Certified physician specializing in medical weight loss told HollywoodLife.com. Without knowing precisely how much fat Kim gained, Dr. Shah estimated that Kim’s particular weight loss situation may have been the loss of “the weight of the twins, and maybe the water. For her, this might have been enough to show a dramatic change in her body.”
Still, Kim’s weight loss is impressive. Even her own daughter, Brielle tweeted out her “after” picture with the shocked caption, “HOW.”
Kim Zolciak: The Healthy Way To Lose Baby Weight
So how can you speed up your own baby weight loss? “During your pregnancy, focus on eating healthy and try to avoid turning to high calorie foods that will put excess fat on your body,” advised Dr. Shah. “If the only weight you gain is the healthy weight of the babies, then when you give birth, you can be pretty close to where you were before pregnancy.”
Still, don’t feel the pressure to drop the weight all at once. “It is natural to gain a little bit of fat, but to lose it all in 4 days is not possible. Kim most likely ate often, and very healthy things to make sure that her babies got the proper nutrition,” said Dr. Shah. “Skipping meals or not eating at all are common ways that I see post pregnancy women attempt to lose weight. This is very unhealthy because you will just lose water and muscle weight. Starvation does not lose fat.”
Instead, “focus on getting enough sleep, as sleep regulates essential fat-burning hormones,” advised Dr. Shah. An easy way to get in the Zs? “Nap with your baby!”
