Carrie Underwood may have a beautiful voice and face, but she was incredibly wooden throughout the entire movie. She had no nuances of meaning during lyrics, no changes in tone and voice. This movie really made me sad–especially all the hard work that went into it when it never really had the tools to succeed in the first place.

Kym Karath hasn´t done anything noteworthy in 50 years. Evidently, she´s not much of an actress herself. Who cares what she thinks???

I agree with Kym Karath. Stephen Moyer (Captain Von Trapp) was excellent. Carrie Underwood is a good singer, but did not have the acting ability that was required. I found this relatively spirtless version of the Sound of Music painful to watch also.

Not really an accurate review as Carrie was Maria and the 1965 movie wasn’t the original. The movie was also a remake of the Rogers and Hammerstein Broadway production. It you kept that in mind and weren’t picturing the movie it was great. The movie changed the order of some of the songs and the Live version was faithful to the stage production. They stated in interviews that they were not trying to remake the movie. They also had to get it right in one take whereas the movie had multiple takes and shots. However I love the movie and the live version, you just can’t compare the two because the live version was based on their interpretation of the stage production. Overall great job Carrie Underwood and cast! I’m definitely going to buy it on DVD when it’s released.

Whoever wrote this article is an idiot… It starts out with “Carrie took on the role of Gretl for the live remake of the 1965 hit film on Dec. 5.” She definitely played Maria…………
