‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Trailer: Does Gwen Stacy Die? — Watch

Is that Electro, the Rhino, Doctor Octopus, AND a young Green Goblin we see? The first trailer for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ debuted on Dec. 5, and the shocking number of new villains makes it quite clear that Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone might have a pretty tough go of it this second time around.

When we last left Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) and Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) in the summer of 2012, Spidey had been banned from seeing his newly father-less young girlfriend. But the new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 reveals that the couple is back and better than ever — that is, until the villain who murders her in the comics rears his ugly head. Will Gwen bite it in Spider-Man 2?  Check out the trailer below!

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Trailer: Will The Green Goblin Kill Gwen?

Sam Raimi‘s Spider-Man trilogy shied away from Gwen’s iconic, shocking murder by casting a Mary Jane Watson in her stead, but from the looks of things, this new outing might be the last time we see Andrew’s real-life girlfriend playing Gwen.

“Every day I wake up knowing that the more people I try to save, the more enemies I will make,” Peter Parker muses as he stands above a breathtaking view of Manhattan. Seems like an understatement — this very spoiler-y trailer reveals Electro (Jaime Foxx), The Rhino (Paul Giamatti), a glimpse at one of Doc Oc’s tentacles, and  — most importantly — The Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan), who infamously murders Gwen in the Spider-Man comics.

So, will GG/Harry Osborn pull off the shocking crime this summer? As much as we love Emma as Gwen, it would be nice to see this legendary event played out on the big screen, especially with someone as talented as Dane pulling the metaphoric trigger. (If you haven’t seen him in Chronicle, rent it. Now.)

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Trailer: All About Oscorp

The other big moments in the trailer revolved around Harry’s return, and Peter’s investigation into why Oscorp wanted to exploit his father’s research. It looks like Peter and Harry will finally get to the bottom of what made the former’s father public enemy number one, and this knowledge will likely end up turning Harry into the terrifying Green Goblin. Not sure about you, but we can’t wait to see how it all goes down!

What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Are you excited for The Amazing Spider-Man 2? Will/should Gwen die?

Emma and Andrew have great chemistry and they should just keep Emma in all the movies

If Gwen Stacey dies, I will die. As much as I love Mary Jane, I don’t want her in any of the Amazing Spiderman films.
