In this exciting episode, the designers are taken for a ride as they are assigned with a task to craft a dress for Marge Simpson to wear! Keep reading for our recap of ‘Project Runway All Stars’ season three episode six!
It looks like the designers are making their way through the TV networks! First, with last week’s Bonnie & Clyde-inspired challenge, and now Fox’s 25th anniversary of The Simpsons! Marge herself asks the designers to come up with a dress for her to wear on a special date with her husband Homer- even joking that the restaurant will have real waiter service, and not a cafeteria! She tells them she wants to look sexy for her date and asks that the dress not be green, and easy to remove for a late night “dessert” with Homer. Alyssa Milano tells the designers that the winning look will be worn by Marge in a future episode of The Simpsons.
‘Project Runway All Stars’ Recap Season 3 Episode 6 — Marge Simpson:
Both Seth Aaron and Christopher struggle with coming up with something for America’s favorite housewife. Christopher can’t seem to grasp the kind of 1950s housewife attitude he wants to achieve, and Seth Aaron gets too caught up in the idea of his design becoming a cartoon. Christopher attempts to talk to Viktor about his design, but after being in the bottom last week, Viktor does not feel like helping Christopher out of his stump. But after some time working, Viktor realizes that he was really more upset with himself for being in the bottom than at Christopher and apologizes for taking his frustrations out on him-no unresolved drama for the all stars this week!
This week, previous All Star Anthony Ryan, standing in for Georgina Chapman, joined Abigail Breslin and Alice & Olivia designer, Stacey Bendet, as guest judges. Irina’s flow-y purple dress was definitely the most dramatic — that belt moment was amazing! Christopher’s was a bit dull, but his print was gorgeous. Elena’s dress also had a great moment when the model took off the blazer to reveal the red dress underneath. Viktor’s was edgy and cool, but not really the style of Marge. Both Seth Aaron’s and Jeffrey’s were a bit lacking in design and poorly executed. Korto’s, by contrast, was simply designed — but her choice of a black sparkly fabric made it reach another level of glamour for Marge.
Top: Irina, Korto, and Elena. Irina’s was particularly successful with the judges, with Abigail Breslin saying, “I’m obsessed with this dress.” Korto’s was a quick favorite with the judges as well, Alyssa commenting, “Its a classic design.” And Elena’s was also very well received, Isaac claiming, “Marge Simpson would wear this in a second.”
Bottom: Jeffrey, Christopher, and Seth Aaron. Unsurprisingly, Jeffrey is in the bottom once again. He couldn’t even get through one challenge after last week’s win before hitting the bottom again? Once more we see a poorly constructed dress that is not runway-worthy. Christopher’s dress wasn’t harshly critiqued by the judges, but the only good thing they could say about it was that they really liked the print. Seth Aaron designed five other dresses before sending the unimaginative, draped gown down the runway, with Alyssa saying, “The color is stunning, but its nothing I haven’t seen before.”
Winner: Irina! We are so glad she won her first challenge this week! Her dress was gorgeous and no doubt will look beautiful on Marge.
Loser: Jeffrey, finally! After what has seemed like the longest streak of second chances in Project Runway history, the judges decided to send Jeffrey home this week. This challenge proved that his talents do not lie in women’s wear, so hopefully he will continue with his work in menswear.
What do you guys think? Do you think Irina’s was the best dress this week?
