The shooting was said to have occurred “after a fight broke out between students near the bus loop as the school day came to an end,” a West Orange High School student told the Orlando Sentinel, but law enforcement has not confirmed a fight or other motive.

The shooting victim, later identified as Jerodick Smith, was alert when he was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center for care, Orange County Public Schools spokeswoman Kathy Marsh said.
