Paul and his good friend Roger Rodas, were reportedly in a high-speed street race moments before their red Porsche Carerra GT crashed into a tree. HollywoodLife.com spoke to the LA County Sheriffs Department to find out if there is any truth to this, and we have the answer.
Paul Walker died on Nov. 30 in a horrific car crash. There is a lot of speculation as to whether Paul and Roger Rodas were racing, since the crash site is in a popular street racing location. HollywoodLife.com spoke to Sergeant Rich Pena, of the LASD who told us that he had definitely heard that street racing might be a factor.
Paul Walker Street Racing Before Fatal Car Crash?
Paul and Roger had been hosting a charity event that afternoon for his nonprofit group Reach Out Worldwide. It was an event to raise money for those affected by the typhoon in the Philippines.
Just a few minutes before they were to return the brand new $500,000 Porsche to the garage, they lost control and hit a tree. But were they drag racing?
“Any info like that has not been confirmed,” Srgt Rich Pena told us. “And they are still working on a bunch of different scenarios.”
The LASD did receive a tip that they were racing but they’re working on trying to confirm this. But an eyewitness, Jim Torp, claims he saw them moments before the accident and that they were not racing any cars.
Paul Walker Was ‘An Amazing Dad’ To Meadow
Paul had attended the charity event with his daughter Meadow and his girlfriend Jasmine. Meadow is the daughter of Paul and his ex-girlfriend, Rebecca McBrain. She had just moved to LA to live with her dad, she was formerly living in Hawaii with her mom.
“The worst part is that he was finally getting his time with Meadow. He was happier than you can imagine to have her living with him full-time,” a family friend told HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “She was the love of his life, he was an amazing dad and he was so happy that she chose to live with him because he never felt like he got enough time with her.”
Paul opened up to Entertainment Weekly in March 2013, referring to Meadow as “the best partner” he’s ever had. “There’s a part of me who feels like I’m making up for lost time.”
This is so sad. We will keep you posted as we learn more.
