Thank Yeezus! Kanye West may be busy with touring, planning a wedding, fathering an infant, being a fashion icon, and making insane music videos with Kim Kardashian, but the outspoken rapper told Philly’s Power 99 that he’s already working on his next album, which he hopes to release next summer.
Kanye West, 36, is never one to sit pretty. Even though he’s currently headlining a world tour and planning a wedding to his baby mama and “Bound 2” co-star Kim Kardashian, 33, he’s still planning to drop his next album next summer. Read on for more details!
Kanye West’s New Album: Out By Next Summer?
You can’t earn the title of “Yeezus” without working your butt off, and Kanye has certainly proved that with the whirlwind year (or five) that he’s had. With a new baby and his upcoming nuptials to Kim stealing so much of his attention, you’d think he might put the music aside for ten seconds — at least to hire the “fighter jets” he wants to have at his larger-than-life summer wedding — but no. Kanye revealed to Philly’s Power 99 that he’s already working on his next album, even though he’s still currently on tour promoting the last one, Yeezus.
“I haven’t named my next album but I have started on it,” he said. “I write down philosophies all the time. I’m just constantly working.”
Kanye has already said that being a father to North has him “super focused“, so maybe having his daughter and Kim as inspiration is making it easier for Kanye to lay down new tracks. Though don’t necessarily expect Kanye’s next album to be the long-awaited sequel to Cruel Summer — unfortunately for Kanye, even Yeezus can’t control the seasons.
“We keep on going back and forth about [Cruel Winter], but we keep on missing the winter,” he said. “I’d like to have out another album by next summer.”
Kanye’s Adventures In Fashion
Of course it wouldn’t be a Kanye interview without some musings on fashion, and Kanye made sure the folks at Power 99 knew that becoming a sartorial icon was still his number one priority.
“My main focus is to get this product line out and it’s gonna come out next September,” he said. “With this clothing, I’m gonna be Pac. This line’s gonna be Ralph Lauren meets Steve Jobs meets Walt Disney meets David Stern meets every visionary through our culture. I’ma mix all of em, like how The College Dropout was, a mix of Roc A Fella, Bad Boy, Tribe Called Quest.”
