Dr. William Petit Survives Tragic Home Invasion & Family Slaying
Dr. Petit’s first wife, Jennifer Hawke-Petit, and two daughters, Hayley and Michaela, were killed in their home in 2007. The women were followed home from a store they shopped in by two ex-convicts. Petit’s wife was raped and strangled to death by the intruders. The couple’s two young daughters, ages 17 and 11, were both tied down to their beds and left to die when the intruders doused in gasoline and set it on fire. Dr. Petit was beaten by the intruders, but managed to escape to a neighbor’s home after sustaining terrible injuries.
Dr. Petit met his second wife, Christine, in 2011 while working with the Petit Family Foundation, an organization created in the memory of Jennifer, Hayley, and Michaela. They married in Aug. 2012.
Congrats to the couple on their new happiness.
What do YOU think, HollyMoms? Do you think it’s sweet that the family named their son after William’s family?
