JayZ and Beyoncé didn’t attend the MTV VMA awards earlier this year either. Who really knows, it could be, because of that little twitter tiff between Rihanna and Bey earlier this year, or it could be that Jay was felt it was best to try and stay clear of any rivalry garbage the media would most likely have a field day with between his protégé Rihanna and is wife Beyoncé, or it could be that he was out of town with a more pressing engagement, who know. Whatever the reason, he sent a support video and either way Rihanna seems cool with JayZ and only they know what’s up. End of story!

Well I wonder what child was slain for that icon!!! Yeah I’m supposed to be religious free but its kind of hard to “not” realize our hollywood beloved musicians are literally selling their souls. Yeah some icon and NO she’s not my voice of reason. I get sick of these songs quickly. They are just as throw away as everything else is these days. BILL maher???. Wats wrong with you? I thought you disproved of religion of any kind. Your life’s work?… Well so much for that bobble head. You know…..I just don’t know now. Bill maher probably also sold his soul. Can I just say that it’s mainly 13 year olds who listen to this crap. I find it disturbing my nieces love lady gaga as she is photographed with a face full of blood. Awkward. Confusing. Is niki minaj on acid??? The demons in her head???? Bill maher you confuse me. But hey…i really did lol…this is your kind and you sir are a full fledged fraud on religion. F.

It doesn’t matter want people think because she still have it and you cant take it away. Not everyone will celebrate with you and that okay.. Her family was there her friend and her fans, and all those who matter. ” I lean it life what for you is for you and no one can take it from you.” I celebrate with her and Her Mother speeches said it all.

Rihanna deserves the award. She has put out hit after hit, including her last collab, Monster, with Eminem. No one to date has sold more hits in such a short period of time at 25 yrs. of age than Rihanna. Just a fact. Yes, she deserved the award.

It’s funny that my brother and I were having this talk about RiRi and why he felt she didn’t deserve the award because she is so young (25) and I felt she did because she has been honing her craft for a few years now. Rihanna has been in this business since she has been 16 years old and even then she was showing and proving. I remember when MTV had their first ‘MTV ICON’ and it was no other than Janet Jackson (one of my favorites EVER) and there was so much huffing and puffing about this because most felt there was other artists including her own brother, MJ (RIP) that should have been considered before Ms. Jackson, who I felt earned that title fair and square. At that time no one was making moves like the lovely Ms. Jackson. Right now and for awhile Ms. Rihanna has kept everyone waiting on pins and needles because no one knows what is coming next from her. Everything she does seems so legendary, so ICONIC in every way that you never want any of her songs to stop playing, you never want her videos to end. Her fashion style is incredible because everything is coming straight from her. I’m sure she has a stylist or two but I know the final say is hers and that goes the same for her musical projects because she seemed to have taking over the airwaves a few years back and there is no stopping her now. Older artists look up to her and are truly in awe of her. The younger artists seem to want to be her or be around her and it’s crazy because she is just Monica’s daughter from the Islands. This woman has made mistakes publicly and privately but still has been able to hold her head up high with pride whenever you see her. She is the best example of what ‘work in progress’ is and what it looks like.

The reason Jay Z wasn’t there is because hater Beyonce was seething with Jealousy that she didn’t get an Icon award. Ri has set many records for her music .Rihanna is very down to earth still coming out with those hits after hits.People can keep on hating but she is very beautiful, talented and nice .

Sorry…but isn’t the queen still on tour?…..and it is VERY..telling that Jay at least wasn’t there. After all she has made a lot of money for him….he should have been there.

I think he JayZ should have been there also. Beyoncé is still on tour, but Jay Z should have been there, but at least he sent a live video wherever he was at.

Let’s just keep it 100’…..nobody watches the AMA’ S….and rihanna is always controversial and she has fans that would watch her s$$$ on a toilet and call if iconic. So they gave her an award that in the ends means nothing. But…it made for great ratings for them and good publicity for the show. Icon…Aretha Franklin is a icon…Whitney Houston was an icon… Chaka khan is an icon…..Janet Jackson is an icon…Madonna is an icon….Rihanna is a publicist dream creation…but not an icon….if did I Clark had been alive and still in control of the show…She wouldn’t have every even been nominated.

Wow, just gorgeous Rihanna. Your performance was on the mark, the emotions, the sultry voice. I could look at that video all day, it left me with a lump in my throat. I never realized how much I love you and your music, last night you gave a fantastic performance and you should be very proud. Congratulations on your icon award.

That speech was cute, but everything else was so…mismatched? Bill maher? Really? Jay z couldn’t even be there? And where did her “50 million” albums come from. Not hating, but if her best selling album is Good Girl Gone Bad, and her second best selling is Loud, which together total only 13 million, where did the other 36 million come from. The numbers seem…inflated much. No way TTT, Rated R and Unapologetic (and her first two albums) could have sold 36 million. I believe the downloads though, she has collaborated with everyone hot.

Bill Maher doesn’t like too many people. Takes a lot for him to even give a compliment, the fact that he presented her with this award is iconic in itself. Go Riri, all your fans know and love you. Don’t worry what a few morons say about you. She shines brighter than any diamond!!!
